The District

The District was one of the most unique movies i have ever watched. The technology that they used to make this movie makes it very interesting. The structure of the movie and the story behind it made it possible for adults to watch and enjoy an animated cartoon. The animated characters were stylized in a way that their facial features looked almost like real life humans; but yet they were cartoony. This in-between style is a new technique they tried out. They took a risk by spending money on production for the development of this movie. This movie revolves around several characters with different backgrounds that live in a ghetto neighborhood, known as Hungarian South Park. The main characters are Hungarian, Chinese, Arab, and Roma residents as we watch them fight over their alliances and conflicts in a comical way. This movie can be characterized as comedy and ghetto. the political, cultural, and economical aspect of the story makes it more interesting for adults to enjoy but in my opinion the whole idea of making a comical animated cartoon movie for adults seems strange and unnecessary. I guess in a way it is the easiest way of sending a message across if that is the only reason for telling a story; instead of spending money on actors and actresses, building up a stage, and finding crew members, it would be easier to make a cartoon.
